Contests.
Contests are themed drawing challenges hosted by community members: a theme, a deadline, and a winner's circle. They run alongside the daily prompt, for when you want stakes.
How contests work
Every contest on the contests page has a host, a theme to draw, a hard deadline, and a winner mode declared up front, so you know whether you're charming the crowd or the host. Deadlines range from same-day sprints to month-long epics.
Entering
- Open the contest's page and hit enter. You'll draw right there in the editor, same as the daily prompt.
- Entries are normal public works: they appear in the feed, collect reactions and replies, and stay in your gallery after the contest ends.
- By default entries must be drawn on Bakatako. Some contests also accept uploaded images, and say so on their page.
- You can enter multiple contests at once. Pace yourself accordingly.
How winners are decided
- Community vote — Reactions are votes, exactly like the daily prompt. Most hearts at the deadline wins.
- Host's pick — The host plays judge and crowns their favorites after the deadline.
A contest can crown up to five winners. Results are locked onto the contest page for posterity.
Hosting your own
Hosting is a supporter perk. You provide the theme and the rules, Bakatako provides the crowd:
Good contests have a theme with room to be wrong in interesting ways. “Draw your sona as a kitchen appliance” outperforms “draw something cool” every time.
