The feed & replies.

Posting doodles is the core loop, and the feed is where they all land. Here's how discovering, reacting, and (most importantly) replying with drawings works.

§1

The Discover feed

The Discover feed is the front page: today's prompt up top, then a stream of fresh doodles, replies, and the occasional event. Everything public lands here, so posting your take is all it takes to be seen.

§2

Reactions

Hearting a work is the basic unit of kindness here, and it does double duty: on daily-prompt entries, reactions are also the votes that decide the day's podium. React freely. It costs nothing and makes someone's day.

§3

Drawn replies

The strongest compliment on Bakatako is a drawn reply: answering someone's doodle with a doodle. Add a friend for their character, continue the scene, escalate the bit.

  • Replies are full works of their own, timelapse and all, and stay attached to the original, so the whole thread of riffs is browsable.
  • Replies can be liked too, and a great reply often out-hearts the post it answers. That's considered an honor for both parties.
  • Works also take regular text comments, but around here drawing back is the love language.
§4

Favorites and following

  • FavoritesBookmark any work and find it again in favorites. Think of it as your personal museum wing.
  • FollowingFollow artists you like from their profile, and their new work shows up for you. Follower counts live on profiles, but nobody's keeping score very seriously.
§5

Notifications

Notifications collect everything aimed at you: new followers, reactions, comments, drawn replies, and likes on your replies. Reactions on the same work bundle into one row with a little avatar stack instead of flooding you, and filters let you view just mentions, reactions, or follows.
